Skybet MET Marketing

Friday 14th July saw the summer of networking continue for MET Marketing on the greens of Sand Moor Golf Club, with the additional benefit of raising some important funds for fantastic children’s cancer charity, Give A Duck.

We were privileged to be invited to play in the Sky Betting & Gaming charity invitational by their head of recruitment, Matt Hughan, and had no hesitation in taking up the offer. After months of anticipation, team selection (thanks to Ryan Scott of twentysix for being a MET ambassador for the day) and a sneaky practice round, we had all the confidence needed to grab victory.

Arriving with plenty of time to spare, we got registered, collected our shirts, loosened our limbs, filled our bellies, rolled some practice putts (twice the distance planned), and headed to the first tee. Miles, our resident low handicapper, started proceedings with a drive 30 yards up into a bush and that set the tone for the day. Between us we did manage to accumulate a reasonable number of points to challenge the mid table, having our ups and downs (excuse the pun) along the way, but ended a few spots outside of the prizes.

The inter group contest was a bit more exciting and went right down to the 18th green with Tom & Ryan eventually beating Miles & Ed by just 1 point! Several beers followed, along with a great Yorkshire carvery, many unsuccessful raffle ticket purchases and tales of what could have been from the various Skybet teams and their suppliers.

As the club-house began to empty and the cabs rolled away, we found ourselves on the receiving end of a fine glass of Sambuca, which initiated the beginning of the end. A quick detour to another of the local watering holes to keep up the client entertaining and all that was left to look forward to was the hangovers and aching bodies of the following morning.

Thanks again to Sky Betting & Gaming for the invite, Sand Moor Golf Club for hosting us and twentysix for loaning Ryan to us. The event raised over £8,000 for Give A Duck which will make a huge difference, so all in all, a great success and we look forward to joining again next time.
