Christmas Industry Events Bonanza

The run up to Christmas sees a flurry of industry events and parties popping up – and this year does not disappoint! We’ve scoured the net for some top meet ups for creatives, digital and marketing professionals across Leeds and Manchester. The next few weeks see the return of industry event favourites such as Chew the Fat, as well as brand new events such as the first ever Ladies that UK Leeds.   

Chew the Fat: Interpreting Colour

Thursday 28th November, 6pm – 11pm

Sheaf Street, Leeds

A panel-led discussion exploring big topics in bite-sized chunks with street-food & DJs. ­­Colour has the power to lift spirits, change perspectives and even antagonise. Join Chew the Fat and their panel of three exciting guests, as they delve into how we interpret colour, the ways in which colour can be utilised and what life might be like without such a diverse palette. There will also be a display from Central Leeds Library’s archives!

Building a BIMA digital and tech community in Leeds

Thursday 28th November, 6.30pm – 10.30pm

BIMA and ComsumeComms are bringing their first ever Directors Dinner to Leeds.

BIMA, the UK’s Digital and Tech community, is growing. They have over 400 corporate members across the UK, from digital agencies, tech companies and brands to start-ups, charities and academia. As an organisation they bring our digital and tech community together to network, drive innovation and to ensure our industry is diverse and provides opportunities for our young people. With Leeds City region going from strength to strength as a thriving digital hub, they want to help it grow stronger still.

That’s why, on 28th November, they’ll be hosting their first Directors’ Dinner in the city. Their Directors’ Dinners are networking events exclusively for those in director and equivalent roles. They are safe spaces to explore opportunities, challenges and collaborations, all in a relaxed setting with great food and drink.


Ladies that UX Leeds

24-26 Aireside House, Leeds

Monday 2nd December, 6pm – 8pm

Ladies that UX is finally coming to Leeds! Their first event will be sponsored by Hippo Digital, and will be a Christmas social, and of course.. pizza will be included.

They want to give you the opportunity to shape Ladies that UX Leeds 2020, so will be giving everyone the opportunity to put forward suggestions for how this group will evolve.

Leeds Business Networking Breakfast

Leeds Business Networking Breakfast meet every Tuesday morning and their members benefit from new business, business advice and a support network for when times are challenging.

This event may be suitable for you if you fall into one of the following categories:

Young Professionals Network

Sweatworking

5th, 11th, 12th, 18th & 19th December

TRIB3, Leeds

In collaboration with TRIB3, LeedsBID is offering employees of levy paying businesses the chance to experience a more active approach to networking… sweatworking!

Sweatworking involves a 45 minute, high-intensity interval fitness class followed by the opportunity to network with other business professionals over post-workout refreshments. Attendees will be able to build relationships with other businesses in the city, whilst getting fitter, stronger and happier.


Tech for Good Live: Xmas Party Consortium

Tuesday 10th December, 6.30pm – 9.30pm

Leaf, 113-115 Portland Street, Manchester

Join Tech for Good as they look back over the highs and lows of the year with a Tech for Good Live panel discussion. What’s more – they’ll be recording it as part of their ongoing podcast series. And, it’s also a Christmas party!

Tech for Good have teamed up with friends at HER+Data MCR, Open Data Manchester, Py Data Manchester and MCR Fred.

Join their expert panel and special guest(s) as they review the year in pro-social and ethical tech.

Merry Chickmas: The 2019 RoundUp

Join Chicks In Advertising hosts Laura and Liv, for a bumper edition of the good, the bad and the ugly as they discuss all things festive, and see off another year of Chicks in Ads in style!

Chicks in Advertising is a meet up group centred on diversity, for anyone interested in, working in, and passionate about advertising.


The Creative Life Winter Social

Thursday 12th December, 5.30pm – late

Castleton Mill, Leeds

The Creative Life Winter Social is an exclusive event for industry leading creative professionals to come together in a relaxed, informal environment.

Meet other creative business owners from a variety of different backgrounds. From award winning photographers to internationally recognised designers, it’s a perfect opportunity to find people to collaborate with on your next project.

The event will also be attended by mentors who support the Creative Life Accelerator program. These are experts in the field of marketing, finance and business development.

Complimentary food and drinks, sponsored by Proffy will be served on arrival and you will have access to a fully licensed, members only bar.

The event is being run in partnership with Castleton Mill, an iconic grade II listed workspace for creative businesses in Leeds. Having recently undergone a brand new refurbishment which includes a members only bar and co working space, it’s set to be one of the leading creative communities in Leeds.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to Candlelighters, a Yorkshire based charity dedicated to fighting children’s cancer.


Yorkshire Evening Post Carol service

Thursday 5th December, 7pm

Leeds Minster

The Annual YEP carol service takes place on Thursday 5th December, beginning at 7pm.

The uplifting service, conducted by Canon Sam Corley, will celebrate the Christmas story through readings and performances by the Minster’s own choir and the Yorkshire Evening Post Brass Band.

Tickets are free with a suggested minimum £3.50 donation.

Proceeds will be shared equally between Leeds Minster and the YEP’s Half and Half appeal, which raises funds for St Gemma’s Hospice and Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice.

Those who are attending are invited to bring a small, new gift of toy to place under the Christmas tree should they wish. The presents, which must be labelled with the age and gender of the intended recipient, will then be distributed to sick and under-privileged children throughout Leeds in time for Christmas Day. A maximum of four tickets can be booked per person.


Leeds Meetups Christmas Party

Tuesday 17th December, 6pm – 10.30pm

Duke Studios, Leeds

The organisers of creative, tech and digital meet-up groups in Leeds are throwing a big ole festive bash at Duke Studios in Leeds. There will be merriment, music, and mingling. It is a free event but you will need to sign up to get a ticket.
