To help you get a better understanding of the team here at MET Marketing, we have been interviewing our team members to find out what makes them tick.
Today’s Meet the Consultant interview is with Murray Harrison, who takes us through his education, career and extreme puzzle solving abilities.
What excites you about a career with MET?
That I can work across multiple sectors within this role. There is also wide variety of knowledge amongst the whole team that I can learn from but also add to.
Background e.g. career, education etc?
I attended the Kings High School Pontefract, obtaining 14 GCSEs, 1 AS Level and 3 A Levels. For the last few years I have been employed as a Sales Advisor at O2 and I am looking forward to applying the skills I learnt there to my role at MET.
What job did you want to do when you were younger?
Like all young lads, I was desperate to be a footballer until I realised that I didn’t quite have the talent required for the Premier League.
What would you say your biggest challenges are working within the recruitment industry?
Understanding how different businesses and different industries will use marketing to grow their business.
How is working in the recruitment industry different to what you expected?
It is definitely more difficult than I thought it would be. Understanding the process and getting to know the market starting from scratch was difficult but perseverance and being inquisitive has massively helped me.
What do you love most about your job?
I love speaking to people.
What do you love about Yorkshire and Leeds in particular?
The accent is extremely welcoming. Leeds has great nightlife, great shops and a good blend of contemporary and historic architecture.
Recommend where to go in Leeds for a night out?
Gusto is my favourite restaurant, followed by a drink at Normans.
A bit of trivia
I can solve a Rubik’s cube in under 2 minutes. My record is 48 seconds!
If you were a brand, which one would you be and why?
Nike, simply because I love trainers. I am passionate about fitness and multiple sports.
